Sarah Wells is a prominent leader in small business and policy advocacy, known for supporting working mothers and championing inclusive workplace policies. As CEO and Founder of Sarah Wells Brand, she created a successful small business dedicated to empowering working mothers with products designed to ease their transition back to work. Her ecommerce business thrives on deep customer relationships, fueled by her commitment to workplace Equity.
Sarah’s leadership and policy experience began with a decade at Women in Government, where she steadily rose through the ranks from Intern to Vice President. She led the creation of a Public Policy Department that expanded membership of elected officials by 65%. She directed a national women’s health campaign resulting in 192 bills across 50 states, securing the organization’s largest-ever grant from a Fortune 100 sponsor, and oversaw revenue growth from $1.3 million to $3 million annually. Sarah also presented before national and international audiences, including the Pan American Health Organization, while leading media efforts that generated 200 million impressions and secured $2.34 million in federal and foundation grants.
During her four year tenure as executive director of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care, Sarah drove significant changes to improve care standards. She led changes that secured the organization's financial sustainability and expanded its mission to represent consumers across all care settings. Her leadership positioned the organization as a key voice in national and state policy, particularly through the Affordable Care Act. She led efforts that enhanced the organization’s policy agenda with advocacy tools that increased engagement by 900%.
As the author of her newly-released book, Go Ask Your Mothers, Sarah continues to passionately advocate for working moms by offering actionable strategies for employers to support their teams. Sarah’s unique perspective, as both a small business leader and advocate, fuels her mission to shape workplaces that foster long-term success and employee well-being.
Sarah holds a master’s in public policy and women’s studies from George Washington University and a bachelor’s from American University.
